Home Start East Sussex

Supporting families, parents and children in East Sussex via volunteer home-visiting and group work, including reflective domestic abuse courses.

Home-Start East Sussex is a small independent charity which works towards the increased confidence and independence of disadvantaged families living in the county.

The charity supports families living in East Sussex to build stronger, more resilient relationships through targeted services that encourage clients to act for themselves, make decisions and take back control of their lives.

We currently run three services:

1) Lotus Domestic Abuse Recovery Programme is a free 6-week group delivered in various movable locations across the county.

The programme supports the recovery of women (with or without children) that have experienced domestic abuse and empowers them to help keep themselves and their children safe in future relationships.

Due to current restrictions, this programme is being delivered remotely via the video calling software, Zoom.

2) Our free Volunteer Home-Visiting Service support families with pre-school children to help children meet their developmental milestones inside and outside the home so they are prepared to start reception year with the skills to interact with their teachers and peers and to help them learn.

Due to current limitations, this service is being delivered remotely via telephone or video call.

3) Being Mum Programme is a free 6-week programme for new first-time mothers in East Sussex, aiming to help women feel more confident and connected in their new role as ‘mum’.

The transition to parenthood brings a lot of challenges and changes, and can be a particularly isolating time.

Being Mum helps women to discuss these issues in a group context, normalising these topics of conversation and helping them to build friendships with new mums in their local area.

Due to current restrictions, this programme is being delivered remotely via the video calling software, Zoom.
